Portland seems to be the king of pop-up dining experiences, and summer ’tis the season to experience them all. One of my favorite summer pop-ups is officially open on SE Division: Late Shake. The concept? Self-explanatory. It’s milkshakes at night!
An alternative to the hour-and-a-half wait down the street at a certain ice cream shop you may have heard of, Late Shake serves up ambitious milkshake combos on weekend nights each month from 7-11 throughout the summer. The menu rotates monthly with two flavor explosion specials that draw inspiration from everything from cookies to cocktails.
The pop-up happens inside of Dapper & Wise coffeehouse at 3158 SE Division St.
Here’s a peek at the June menu, but the specials will be different in July and August! Also, all milkshakes can be made vegan with a cashew ice cream substitution.
So the next time you’re jonesing for something sweet after dinner at Ava Gene’s, Pok Pok, or Olympia Provisions Public House, take the short stroll over to Late Shake and see what they’re whirling up for the night. I guarantee you’ll be greeted by a smiling face and you’ll emit an audible “Mmmm” after your first sip.
